The fusion of humor with hipness is what has defined Natalie
Barandes' diverse career as a writer, director and producer.
Growing up in an entertainment savvy family that was involved
with the Broadway Theater enabled Barandes to experience a
very creative and progressive upbringing.
In 1994, Barandes co-launched Get It...Pictures with executive
producer Steven C. Ward. Serving as President and Creative
Director, she also produces, directs and writes many of the
company's projects. Get It...Pictures' client roster includes
many highly rated half-hour television specials including
Comedy Central's "Reel Comedy" Series ("Bowfinger,"
"Big Daddy," "Shallow Hal", "Bandits,"),
"All Access Pass to the American Comedy Awards,"
Sci Fi Channel's "The Making of Alien: Resurrection,"
"The Making of The Lost World: Jurassic Park" and
"The Making of Star Trek: First Contact."
Currently, Barandes writes and directs the majority of the
company's "Reel Comedy" movie specials for Comedy
Central. This past Fall, she executive produced and created
interstitial series "Before & After'noon" for
USA Networks.
Barandes began her career in the early 1980s as a copywriter
then producer at Serino, Coyne & Nappi, an advertising
agency based in the heart of New York City whose clients consisted
of the top Broadway shows of the time including "Les
Miserables" and "Into the Woods." From there
she rose the ranks in New York's competitive production world
to become a senior producer at Broadcast Arts Production Company,
where her credits included Larry David's "Norman's Corner,"
the first high-def venture for HBO.
Next Barandes launched DVTV, a creative services/production
company, where she created image campaigns for such networks
as Lifetime, The Movie Channel, Showtime and MTV. She went
on to Los Angeles to join Columbia Pictures marketing department,
where she produced theatrical trailers and TV spots for the
company's creative advertising division for such films as
"Boyz 'N the Hood," "My Girl," and "The
Prince of Tides."
Barandes is currently writing a new screenplay, which will
be a romantic comedy. She is also in the process of writing
and creating several new television series for Comedy Central. |
